Happy 2022!

Happy New Year to you, my blog readers! Yes, I decided the blog needs a change of design so I picked a new template, created a new banner, and here we are all sparkly and new for the new year. What do think? I may tweak things as the year progresses, but it’s a start.

I can’t say 2021 was a particularly notable year, though I’m sure historians will take a different view. Of course, stuff happened–it always does. But personally, the milestones this year included my fourth child turning 21 and me returning to Twitter. I’m sure if I took more than 10 minutes to write this post I’d think of plenty of things, but I tend to blog about the stuff I want to share so you can just look back at the posts from this year to see if there’s anything interesting.

Speaking of looking back at past posts, here are the top ten visited posts on my blog in 2021. These were not all written this past year, but they are the blog posts that received the most visitors over the last 12 months:

01. 1 Peter 3:18-20: Did Jesus Preach in Hell?
02. Did God Divorce Israel But Not Judah?
03. The Graham Cracker Question
04. Sunday Devotional: Psalm 8:3-4*
05. Sunday Devotional: John 11:25-26
06. Who Are the Nephilim (Genesis 6:1-4)?
07. Sunday Devotional: Psalm 90:12
08. Sunday Devotional: Psalm 16:11
09. Sunday Devotional: Psalm 139:23-24
10. Sunday Devotional: 1 Corinthians 10:31

Surprised? I was both surprised and blessed at how many people read and seemed to benefit from the 1 Peter 3:18-20 article.

I am going to try to be better about blogging over the next year. There will be some more Who Reviews coming up as Chris Chibnall finishes out his tenure as showrunner with a couple of specials. I’ve also got some Music Monday ideas, as well as some theology-related posts in mind (including one I promised to a correspondent in response to my posts on Calvinism, particularly on the subjects of impartiality, prayer, evangelism, and determinism). I’ll also try to write some more general “life” blogs since I know some of my readers have asked for more of these in the past. Book Reviews, too!

Of course, the best way to encourage me to write more is for y’all to keep showing up, sharing my blogs, and inviting others to read them. Writers like to be read, so keep reading. And don’t be afraid to comment if you enjoy an article… or even if you don’t (but be polite!).

Another way to encourage me is to tip. Check out my Ko-Fi page or click on the floating link on the bottom left of the screen if you’d like to drop a couple of bucks in the pot as a “thank you.”

I do appreciate everyone who has stopped by here over the past year, and I hope you’ll continue to drop by. Perhaps you might even subscribe… 😲

Have a lovely year, everyone!

So how’s your return to twitter treating you?

    • cds says:

It’s going okay, I think, Bookstooge. I’ve lost some followers, some of whom were probably bots, others may have decided they don’t like the things I say, both of which I’m okay with. I’ve also dropped some follows for various reasons. I’m trying to find a balance between following people whose comments are entertaining, encouraging, and challenging and people with whom I disagree but who are not disagreeable. Twitter can be so toxic that the temptation to run to an echo chamber is great. Finding a nice middle ground can be hard, but I think there are enough people of goodwill out there to make it a worthwhile effort.

Thanks for asking and dropping by!
