Don’t Hate Me Because I’m Beautiful!

I am honored to announce that I have been blessed with another award! I mean, I just installed my Award shelf the other day, and already I’m adding to it! Thank you to Bailey Hammond who’s Over Yonder… (yes, she’s somewhere else, and that’s the name of her blog) for bestowing this honor upon me. The award is the “One Lovely Blog” award (hence the title of the article). And in accepting this award I need to list 15 (yes, FIFTEEN) other blogs that I think are also worthy of receiving it. Then each of these 15 will list 15 blogs, and so on.

Before I announce the winners, I have to say that a couple of months ago, this would have been impossible. I was still fairly new to blogging and was focusing my attention mainly on industry blogs (agents, publishing, etc.). Consequently, I knew of only a handful of writer blogs. Then along comes YA Highway and their Road Trip Wednesday. All of a sudden, my RSS is overflowing with great blogs from all my new writerly friends who leave me comments on my blog and whose blogs I visit and comment on. In short, mainly thanks to YA Highway, I’ve discovered what wonderfully supportive people writers are. And some of these people have agents and have their books in print–in hardcover even! But there are no ivory towers and egos.

So, in true Award Ceremony fashion, I want to thank everyone that’s ever commented on my blog. I really appreciate you taking the time to read my ramblings. And to those who are following, either via Google Friend Connect, or on your RSS reader, or by just randomly popping over every once in a while, thank you very much. I’ll try to keep the content interesting for you!

Now to my fifteen. There are various reasons why I’ve chosen these. It might be one of, or a combination of, the following: they’re well-written, they’re beautifully designed, they make me laugh, they make me think, or just that more people need to visit them because they deserve the exposure. Oh, and if any of these blogs have already received this award, just link to the article where you listed your 15. Unless you want to list another 15–that’s up to you!

Thanks! Whew–15! Thank goodness I’m a huge blog stalker. Like you, just a few weeks ago I wouldn’t have had that many to list. But now, I’m good to go. The writing community is amazing. I love it.

  8. *grin* You are most welcome. And I am indeed over yonder. It’s a nice place, except for the fact that it’s not quite to my liking temperature wise today. Too cold.

Thanks Colin. 🙂 Think I may need to lurk around some fellow YA writers and make some new friends to get my list up to 15!

  11. OMG! Thank you. I don’t hate you because you are beautiful. I adore you because you named my blog. Thank you, I am honored (I think). Well, since I am a newbie, I have no idea what this means. I mean I know that you suggested that your readers check out my blog & I am so grateful, but am I supposed to do something now? Please let me know.

    Thanks.

    Emma and Melissa:

According to the “rules” of the award, you’re supposed to do as I did–find 15 bloggers and list them on your blog. However, I’ve been where you are, and I know if someone had asked me 3 or 4 months ago to list 15 cool writer blogs, I would have been listing J. K. Rowling, Scott Westerfeld, and whoever else I could Google! So, I don’t mind if you only list a few, or none at all. Take the award and soak in the visitor love! And be encouraged to get involved in the online writing community. Yeah, it takes time away from writing, but it is so encouraging to have people cheering you on, and, oddly enough, actually inspires you to write more!

  13. Thank you, thank you! That’s so nice of you to include me in the list. 🙂

When I first started looking for writer blogs that weren’t author or industry blogs I also looked to YA Highway. RTW really makes you feel the whole community. It’s lovely, and I’m glad you found it and joined in! (Even if you won’t go blue and wear a foam finger with me. Sigh.)

  14. Congrats on your first Blog Award!
