The WIP
Yes, I’m devoting a page to my Work In Progress, mostly because I’m enjoying writing it and I want people to know about it, and also because it’s such a good idea, I want you to know where you heard it first in case fifty novels with the same premise come out before mine sees the light of day.
Of course, I’m nowhere near being able to query this yet, so what I’m giving you is not the query letter, but I think this description will form the basis of the query letter I eventually write (or not, if The Novel gets picked up). I still have some plot to develop (as you can tell), but feel free to let me know if you like the sound of it too:
Pearl Kztaterin, a 16-year-old alien girl, in a fit of wanderlust borrows a time-space travel device and visits London. She intends to visit Earth in 1978 to see all the cool fashions and maybe catch a live punk band. Instead she miskeys the controller and ends up in London… in 1879. She needs to recharge the device to get home–but Edison’s only just invented the incandescent lightbulb! The chances of finding a suitable power supply are slim. How will she survive life in Victorian London until either she finds a way home, or home comes looking for her?
A TEENAGE ALIEN IN VICTORIAN LONDON will be a 70,000 word (more or less) YA Historical novel.

Great premise! Sounds like fun. Not sure about the current title though… Given that title I’d skip it, but given that premise I want to read it
Thanks, Suzanne! Titles are not my strong suit. I thought this would be a good working title because it really sums up the story. But I’m sure there’s a better one out there somewhere.
