It appears that there are a number of Colin D. Smiths online, so for my own sake, and for the sake of all those other Colin D. Smiths in the world, I thought I would provide a short bio to let you know which one I am.

cds-c1971I was born in a British Military Hospital in Germany to an English father and an Irish mother, and moved with them to my father's home city of Hereford, England while I was still little.  I attended Marlbrook County Primary School (1976-1981) and Hereford Cathedral School cds-hcs-1988(1981-1988 for any fellow Old Herefordians that might be reading this) where I was presented with the best educational environment the city had to offer.

Sadly, I didn't take as much advantage of those educational opportunities as I should have (unlike some of my former schoolmates, for example: Rev. Dr. Jonathan Arnold) but I still managed to do well enough to land a place at The University of Hull (1988-1991 for those who care) where I read Theology and graduated with a B.A.(Hons.) in the subject.

I married a crazy (she would have to be to marry me) but lovely American in 1991, and we moved to the States the following year.  I have been living in North Carolina since then, currently residing near Greenville (note, that's Greenville North Carolina, not the other one in South Carolina).cds-1991

We have six children, and, though staunchly Reformed Baptist, we are members of Christ Presbyterian Church in Winterville, NC.  In 2011, I completed a Master of Divinity degree through Columbia Evangelical Seminary under the mentorship of Dr. James R. White.  I play various musical instruments, read (mainly theology, history, and assorted fiction), and write.  I even occasionally contribute to Dr. White's blog--when I have something worthy to say.

So no, I'm not that Colin D. Smith--that other one is way more interesting... :)
